It's true, the photographer asked our opinion. Still, I don't like certain subject matter either (for example, dead animals), Todd, but with all due respect I think we're better off keeping those personal tastes to ourselves. Just don't click the thumbnail. That said, this seems me (personal taste again) an odd background for this kind of erotic image, but others will argue that's what makes the picture work.

Sorry for not giving enough information. It is a technically nice image, background doesn't bother me but is too sharp. The subject matter I am talking about is a moral one. Art doesn't justify sin and homosexuality is sin. I am sure many would disagree and that is fine.

The photo certainly has a degree of eroticism, which is enhanced by the public location, IMHO. The rail next to them is distracting. The background sharpness is required if the goal is to identify this as a public location. If not, then a shallower DOF would be better. Overall, I think this is a successful shot.

Todd, I understand your point of view (and admire your photography). I just don't think Photonet is the place to sermonize. Just don't click those offending thumbnails.

First I thought I was looking at a picture of Joana Joy (see, for instance this one). Then I saw it was not. I would really like to look at the rest of the series: always found fascinating to see how two different photographers aproach a similar subject... Interesting detail: Joana Joy is also based in Austria

average photo. sexy topic helps. background & so so models & fake expressions distract. Nice pose & exposure

Interesting David. Don't we all sermonize via our photography no matter what the subject? Photo-journalists do it all the time by the way they shoot a particular event. "We" the viewer are the one that sermonizes(to ourselves), by the thoughts we have after the viewing. I would have totally agreed with you about this subject matter a year ago. But after doing documentary style photography in the 20-something club scene, I find this just a slice of life. I was amazed at "how" out of the closet this scene has become. Most of the time here at photo.net, critiques tend to go right to the subject matter rather than the composition and techniques used.
That being said, this is a pretty darn good shot, taken in full sun. Shadows drive you nuts, but they are what tend to make the shot for me. Here I can tell it is NOT a set up scene made for some magazine, though the poses are a bit dramatic. Studios are for shots of life as we wished it were, while this is life as it really happens. Well done, I would love to see how you did with the rest of this series. JH

Fairly adolescent and artless. Not strong enough to be porn, not subtle enough to be intriguing, not pretty enough to be appealing. Something that a teenager with 200 euro would get up to.
The photographer aims for a cross between Eric Kroll and Wolfgang Tillmans but fails badly. For God's sake - it's so contrived.
For everyone who found at least something appealing about the picture - surely that's only because it's showing two chicks snogging. Identical crappy shot with two men and there'd be silence. Or howls of protest.
To the guy who does not approve on homosexual grounds - abhor your opinion but admire your lack of hypocrisy. Many men consider girls kissing not to be homosexual.
